My friend’s grandson made his appearance into this world at just 34 weeks – a little bit too early! He weighed around 4lb and so needed some very tiny baby items. I wanted to make my friend a gift for her grandson, but got a bit excited and made quite a few bits!
The blue hat in the middle my friend ordered; the rest of this bundle was a gift.
Check out this little fellow! I had seen lots of articles on Facebook saying how these little octopuses were great for prem babies, so I just had to make one! I found the Octapus for a Preemie UK Facebook page and used one of their patterns. Go visit their page to find out more!
Hats & Cardigans
There are lots of hat patterns on the internet that can be used and I found this site helpful.
These hats are so small! Look at this comparison: the blue is a preemie hat and the green is a newborn hat
For the cardigans I used this pattern, which I have made before, from Marianna Lazy Daisy Days.
All these items are made using Stylecraft Special yarn. The Octopus is in 4ply and I used a 2mm hook – it is very small! The rest was DK yarn and a 4mm hook.
I am pleased to say that Baby is fine! Mum and Baby have been home for a couple of weeks and both are doing really well!
