Playing With Colour

So I don’t know about you, but I find myself looking at the world and seeing loads of different colour combinations which would make gorgeous blankets, or outfits, or wall decoration all the time. I just seem to think about colour all the time. Haha I’m probably the only one who thinks like that, but I like it…and it has led to this blog post!

I have promised my children blankets that match their bedroom, which meant I had to get my yarn pegs out and play with different colour combinations!

My children still share a room, and so we have made it bright and gender neutral. This is their wallpaper:

I don’t think that photo actually does it justice…it is much brighter! Anyway, after some playing around, this is the combination I have come up with:

These are Stylecraft Special DK yarn pegs, and the colours chosen are:

  • Cream
  • Spice
  • Sherbet
  • Lipstick
  • Pistachio
  • Saffron

Both children will have single bed size blankets made in these colours. As yet, I don’t know what patterns I will use.

Whilst playing around with the pegs I came up with some other colour pallets too, which would work for blankets:

This is a fab mix of browns and blues:

  • Buttermilk
  • Walnut
  • Denim
  • Mocha
  • Storm Blue
  • Stone

This one is a gorgeous neutral mix:

  • White
  • Sage
  • Midnight
  • Silver

I love this blue combination!

  • Silver
  • Cloud Blue
  • Denim

This final combination has been inspired by flowers – petunias to be specific!

I love how they start really light in the centre, then develop into gorgeous colour. The pink petunia pallet is this:

  • White
  • Soft peach
  • Candifloss
  • Fondant

I’m imagining this being a star blanket, with the colours going from light to dark like the petunias do. What do you think?
